1 Week to Go to Clips
Have you marked your calendar and made plans to be in Reston next Friday night, September 16th, for the Clips Beer and Film Tour? It is going to be a great event, and we would love to see you there.
Our partner, New Belgium Brewing, is bringing a wide selection of its tasty craft beers. There will be games to play while we wait for darkness to fall. Plus food vendors will be there, so you can get something to eat while you watch a series of interesting and exciting film shorts that will be projected on a large outdoor screen in the middle of Reston Town Center.
Thanks to New Belgium’s generosity, all beer proceeds from the event go to FABB. This money, in turn, will go toward FABB’s efforts to make Fairfax County a bike-friendly community. FABB looks forward to your support at Clips and in our ongoing efforts to advocate for more bike and pedestrian facilities, to encourage cycling among all groups and ages, and to educate riders and motorists alike about safe and responsible cycling.

Successful Clips Beer & Film Tour in Reston

he sky cleared and the crowds came out to last night’s Clips Beer & Film Tour at the Reston Town Center. Thanks to New Belgium Brewing Co. for bringing the Tour to Reston to benefit FABB’s work in making Fairfax a better place to bike.

Thanks to The Bike Lane for providing the bike valet service. And thanks to everyone who attended the event; your support will go a long way toward helping FABB reach our goals. We heard lots of great feedback from participants about how much fun they had and how well-run the event was. We hope Clips returns next year.

Interview with FABB chairman
I was interviewed recently by Kate Ryan of WTOP News. Kate was at the Reston Town Center covering the two rides that were held there on Thanksgiving morning. We discussed bicycling in Reston and Tysons and the bicycle master plan. Note the sign in the background that states No Bicycling along with No Roller Skating, Soliciting, Trespassing or Loitering. Initially I thought the sign referred to activities banned on the sidewalk but lumping it in with Trespassing, Loitering, and Soliciting doesn't make sense. I'll check on it. Kate writes the bike blog Lane Change. According to Kate, she is "a DC-based reporter shifting from the driver's seat to the bike lane. And you can come along for the ride."
