Spokes, Etc awarded Silver Bicycle Friendly Business

Yesterday the League of American Bicyclists announced the latest batch of Bicycle Friendly Businesses around the country. Congratulations to Spokes, Etc for being recognized as a Silver Bicycle Friendly Business! Spokes is locally owned with five stores in Northern Virginia, including two in Fairfax County. Spokes has been a supporter of FABB for many years.

Reston company named Bicycle Friendly Business

Kittelson & Associates, a Reston transportation consulting company, was named a Bicycle Friendly Business (Honorable Mention) by the League of American Bicyclists. The company is located adjacent to the Wiehle Ave Metro Station, not far from the W&OD Trail. Congratulations to Kittelson & Associates!

Other Fairfax County businesses that have been designated as Bicycle Friendly Businesses include The Bike Lane (Silver), National Wildlife Federation (Bronze), and PricewaterhouseCoopers (Honorable Mention).

Latest Bicycle Friendly Businesses in Virginia announced

WABA awarded Gold Bike Friendly Business award

Congratulations to WABA for leading the way and becoming a Gold Bike Friendly Business:
This morning at Interbike in Las Vegas, the League of American Bicyclists awarded WABA a Gold Bike Friendly Business award. These awards are given out twice per year, and the Fall 2010 award class includes one platinum, three golds, twenty-seven silvers and thirty-one bronzes. We’re extremely proud to be recognized by the League for all of our hard work and we want to congratulate all the other awardees-especially our fellow DC-area recipients!

LAB announces 2009 Bicycle Friendly Business winners

The League of American Bicyclists (LAB) announced the latest winners of the Bicycle Friendly Business award, one of which is from Virginia, Big Wheel Bicycles in Charlottesville (Bronze). Other DC area winners were Toole Design Group in Hyattsville (Silver), and World Bank Group (bronze). Here's more from the March 4 LAB press release:

The League of American Bicyclists is proud to announce 34 new Bicycle Friendly Business award winners which includes our first platinum designations to New Belgium Brewing Company in Fort Collins, Colo. and Bike Gallery of Portland Ore. This is the second time BFB winners have been announced since the program's inception in 2008 when the League announced the first 13 designees. "We're delighted to highlight these great companies and the ways in which they are getting more people on bikes," stated League President Andy Clarke. "In today's challenging economic climate, businesses with healthy, happy and productive employees are going to be the most competitive and the most sustainable - the Bicycle Friendly Business program recognizes some of the best examples of this in practice."
