Bicycle Master Plan meetings scheduled

On Wednesday, June 25 Fairfax County will present the final draft of the Fairfax County Bicycle Master Plan at a meeting in Reston. The meeting is from 7:30-9:00 p.m. at Dogwood Elementary School. Bike racks are located in the back of the building. Two other meetings are planned in the south and central parts of the county.

The Plan has been under development for the past four years. The first draft was completed in April 2011 and covered the Greater Tysons area. The first draft of the countywide plan was completed in July 2012. County staff have been preparing final language since that time. While the final draft is not available yet on the county Bike Program website, we hope it will be there soon.

On Wednesday, July 23 the Planning Commission will hold a working session on the Plan starting at 7:00 p.m. at the Fairfax County Government Center. A public hearing before the Planning Commission is scheduled for Wednesday, September 24. The Board of Supervisors public hearing on the Plan is scheduled for Tuesday, October 28. The September and October dates "are tentative and can be modified should substantial comments arise requiring additional staff time to address."
